Happy Pirates Day!

The new score is awesome--almost as good as Black Pearl.  And I am suddenly finding swordfighting incredibly hot.  So, at 10:00 tonight, I will be indulging in the hotness that is Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and the brilliance that is Pirates of the Caribbean.

P.S. I actually do have a life, Pirates is just far more entertaining.  Just thought I'd mention that.

Is it May 25 yet?

Omigod, during Dancing with the Stars last night, was the "world premiere" of the trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.  Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbossa on the same side?  Pirate lords from the four corners of the Earth?  Jack basically telling Elizabeth "you know you want me, but too damn bad"?  I'm giddy with anticipation.

So, it's like all right and everything. I wasn't really that attached to my gallbladder anyway. Hehehe...attached...sometimes I'm so hilarious I can't stand it.

By the way, I saw Mr. Depp on Letterman on Thursday, and the boy managed to dress himself and still be very pleasing on the eyes. So, kudos to him. Put a smile on my face.

Pirates Revisited

So I saw Pirates again (and again after that and possibly again later today), and my opinion of the whole thing definitely improved. It wasn't nearly as annoying the second time. I don't if that's cuz I already saw it and got over my disappointment; if it was because I concentrated more on the look of the movie (which is unbelievably gorgeous); if it was because I got more involved in the story arc from the first movie and began contemplating the third movie; or if it was because it wasn't 2:30 in the morning, but in any case, much better the second time.

On another note, my mom and I have been having a rather sad number of debates about said movie and still have yet to come to an accord about just about everything. She's mad that Jack kinda "turned into" a bastard (convincing herself that he's a good pirate as well as a good man), while I'm mad that he wasn't enough of a bastard. We also think the curse was never really broken, or broken then reinstated by Jack the monkey, but some pieces of that don't fit like Barbossa at the end with the apple and that the monkey was shown as cursed while Capt. Jack was not. Curious...

And another layer to the mystery of life: It's only eyeliner that Johnny Depp looks good in, not all makeup. Watched Ed Wood, and he is one ugly woman. That coupled with the unattractive makeup jobs in Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory confirms that it's really just the eyeliner. I've been working my way through Donnie Brasco, and he's not nearly as tasty as he is as Capt. Jack. Also, the boy needs facial hair. Just about any kind will do, but clean-shaven is not his best look. Who knew waist-long dreads, a crazy goatee, and eyeliner could be an IMPROVEMENT?

Pirates and Eyeliner

So, I saw Dead Man's Chest last Thursday, and while I was utterly disappointed, it did once again bring up the ultimate mystery of life: why is it that Johnny Depp is the only man on the planet who can wear eyeliner and still look totally hot? It's actually kind of disturbing that he looks better with the eyeliner than without it. 'Cause like in Blow totally not hot at all, yet in Don Juan DeMarco--eyeliner and hot. It's very puzzling to me. I have actually spent a large portion of my summer contemplating this phenomenon and have yet to arrive at an answer. And then there's the whole hotness factor in Chocolat (which nearly rivals that of Pirates), and he's got a French braid half the time. Then I see him walking around in public with the nasty hair and stupid hat and I thank god for make-up people.
