Yay! Controversy!

Commie Carebear
So I went to the Hillary Clinton rally here last Friday.  It was pretty interesting.  She has fabulous hair...I wondered a lot about how long it takes to do it in the morning when she's working all those long hours on the campaign.  It seemed like a lot of work.  /shallow

Then, Obama was here on Saturday and I really wanted to go, but my stupid sinus infection was really bad, so I didn't.   Then I saw the picture of the 100,000 that did show up, and I was glad I didn't.  Yay!

[1] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
Obviously

[2] Would you do meth if it were legalized?
No.  I prefer looking my age, thanks.

[3] Abortion: for it or against it?
I don't know anyone who's "for" abortion.  I believe it's a necessary evil.  If there were a loving home for every child, no violent sexual crimes, and never a medical condition that endangered a mother's life, I'd say you essentially made the decision to have a child when you chose to have sex and should therefore deal with the consequences.  But, the world doesn't work that way, so I would say I'm unequivocally pro-choice.

[4] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
The WORLD?!  Um, no.  The WORLD would not fail with a female president.  Not even the country would fail.  I think it would be one of the best things for the country, and for the world.  So while I don't think any kind of president would cause the WORLD to fail, I do think a new kind of president could inspire the world and a female one definitely fits into that category.

[5] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Since I'm pro-choice, it would be kind of hypocritical of me not to, wouldn't it?  I don't understand democrats that are pro-choice/anti-death penalty and republicans who are pro-life/pro-death penalty.  A human life is a human life, right?

[6] Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Hell yes...but not because I partake.  We waste far too much money, jail space, and court time to prosecute this bullshit.  I'd legalize prostitution too.  So there.

[7] Are you for or against premarital sex?
I have no moral issue with premarital sex.  But I think we need to teach both boys and girls about respecting themselves and each other.  There also needs to be more extensive sex education and more access to condoms/birth control, etc.

[8] Do you believe in God?
No.  I definitely have a spiritual side to me, I can't get behind the idea of some giant, in-our-image dude who watches my every move and judges me based on archaic standards.  I also don't do that whole "jesus died for your sins so you owe him" thing; call it ego if you want, but I wasn't here, so don't hold me responsible for something someone did.  And who put him in charge anyway?

[9] Do you think same-sex marriage should be legalized?
Totally.  That's about all I have to say about that.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the US illegally?
I think it's wrong for anyone of any nationality to enter this country illegally.  We have laws and limits on immigration for a reason.  I love the diversity and cultural melding of this country and welcome anyone who comes here through legal channels.

[11] A 12-year-old girl has a baby; should she keep it?
I can't answer that.  I know people who are 30 who have had babies when they shouldn't have.  And I know very responsible 12 year olds.  I hope I'm never a position to have to decide that.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18?
No.  If the law were changed so kids could drink wine, etc. like in European countries, I could get behind that so people would learn to enjoy alcohol and drink responsibly.  But just lowering the age (and the maturity level of those granted the right) 3 years is a bad plan.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
I think we need a timetable about when Iraqis will fully take over responsibility of policing and defending their own country.  Though, I think that timetable probably needs to be kept from the public since terrorists, revolutionaries, etc. would then just wait to do whatever they're gonna do inside Iraq until US troops leave.  But, just leaving without a plan or support for the country we destabilized would be a mistake.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal; do you agree?
No.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
I think there are better ways of disciplining, but I'm not against it.  I think kids respond better when realize there are consequences to their actions beyond getting hit, but I also think that in some cases, as my grandfather would say, 'a little fear is not a bad thing.'

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I don't think I would.

[17] Whom do you think would make a better president: Obama or McCain?
After Obama beat out Hillary for the nomination, I really was undecided.  I thought both had pros and cons.  Then, McCain starting gettin' all crazy and pandering to conservatives and picking Sarah Palin...and I wasn't undecided anymore.  Plus, Obama's grown on me a lot since this summer and while I don't believe he will usher in all this massive, system-wide "change" he's promising, it's nice to consider.

[18] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Um, no.  They're on the internet, so I don't really have to care what they think about it.
